Which of the following is true about Kristy?

  1. I come from the “Pie Capital of America”
  2. I was once a Mennonite.
  3. I am a registered Nutritionist
  4. I was born in 1970.
  5. All of the above except 4

I was born in Charleston and joined St. Andrew's when my family moved to Mt. Pleasant during my high school years. Graduated from the College of Charleston and then The Citadel. Married for 28 years to Steve, my wonderful husband. We live in Mt. Pleasant with our enthusiastic dog, Coco. I am so thankful for all the fun and support we have here with our St. Andrew’s family.

I grew up in Charleston and moved across the bridge in 1992 after I started working here at St. Andrew's. My family consists of my husband, Pat, 4 step children and 4 step grandchildren. Gardening is my place of true "re-creation," but I love a good spy novel, any black and white old movie, particularly westerns and taking walks with my husband. A verse that means a lot to me is from Psalm 16 - "you (God) have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."

I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland home of the Ravens, Charm City Cakes, and snow about every other Christmas. I received my Bachelors degree from Elon University in Corporate Communications. While at Elon, I pursued my love for travel and foreign culture by spending a semester in Italy. After college I jumped on the opportunity to move to Charleston; I have been dreaming about living here for as long as I can remember. I worked in an accounting firm and then moved on to a very enjoyable career at Sette, an Italian restaurant down the street from the church.

I’ve been attending St. Andrew's since I arrived in Mt. Pleasant and have loved every second of it. I’ve really found community through Alpha back in 2007 and Year Team 2008-09. I am now a part of the Year Team leadership and I’m excited about serving Christ through St. Andrew's in many different areas. As for family, I do have a man in my life. He’s a very handsome Fox Hound named Dexter. I hope you all have the joy of meeting him. I am truly looking forward to being a part of staff as well as having the opportunity to serving you. Please stop by my desk if you need anything.

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth. Colossians 1:3-6

I married my high school sweetheart, Jody. We have two beautiful girls, Katie and Emily. I taught 8th grade English for 16 years, and I believe that experience prepared me to be steward of Common Grounds. My hope in the bookstore is that customers will feel comfortable enough to enjoy a cup of coffee and browse the shelves. It is a very relaxed place to fellowship with friends and discover the latest Christian literature.

Charleston has been my home except for a ten year stint at Pawley’s Island where I met and married Cathie at All Saints and had the privilege of serving as church treasurer and vestry member. When moving to Mt Pleasant, our friends from St Andrew’s would not let us consider any other church family and we have been blessed to be a part of the community of faith here for 25 years. We enjoy our growing family, Blake, Laura, our grandson, Henry, grandperson to be and Mary Catherine, and love spending our spare time with our feet firmly implanted in mud in the creek at Pawley’s. It is with great joy I serve Jesus Christ here through serving others in ministry- the clergy, the staff, the vestry and the various ministries of the church.

  • Native Charlestonian, Loves the Beach, Reading and gardening.
  • Son, Ryan, is starting his masters/doctorate in historical theology this fall at Catholic University of America.
  • I have two SPCA dog specials- Aria and Sister Rose
  • Graduated with a BSBA in Accounting from Georgetown University.
  • Practiced as a CPA in public accounting for 15+ years.

I closed my practice to be able to stay home with my child, but when circumstances dictated that I go back to work, I was fortunate to find a part time accounting job at St. Andrew's.

That was 19 years ago, and many things have changed. I have been at least full time for many years, we built the Ministry Center and have now become St. Andrews Church ~ Mt. Pleasant. What has not changed however is that St Andrews was and is a very special place to work and I thank God for leading me in this direction so long ago.

Hi! I’m John Pawley
Currently 34
Married To Leah
With No Children

But by the time I finish writing this I will be closer to 35 … Married … and with a beautiful baby daughter, Eloise. [Editor’s Note: Eloise Pawley was born May 5, 2010!]

I moved to America, from my homeland of Nottingham, England, September 2004 to be a part of YearTeam. I believed God wanted me to be here about two years … but here I still am!

Worship for me has taken all kinds of styles and shapes from being in the church choir as a little boy to singing and writing songs for schools, churches and prisons for 11 years and also being the lead worshiper for my home church for about 5 years. It’s amazing the doors He opens.

I have been so blessed with these roles and opportunities to be His worshiper, to sit at His feet and seek the Lord and hear His voice guiding me in so many ways, even through songs. Over the years, I have grown deeper in love with Him through worship. This is something for which I long for everyone to experience. It is an honor to lead others to the places He has shown and taken me.

My prayer as I continue to be a worshiper and worship leader is to continue going deeper in Him, to take my family with me, and if you’re open, I’d like you to come, too!

I was born and raised in beautiful North Augusta, SC, graduated from Clemson, and after living in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Dallas, I moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1992. My husband, Gene, and I were married at St. Andrew’s in 1995 and we have three wonderful children, Christie, Josh and Jeffrey. Prior to coming on staff in 2006, I served in the marketing department at Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community and was director of the Charleston MS Walk. The Lord has truly blessed me with the opportunity to be a part of the St. Andrew’s family, an inspirational group of people, committed to glorifying God and sharing the good news of Christ. When not at church, I enjoy family time, reading, and spending time outside.

I showed up at St. Andrew's in 1997 as a temporary employee with the intention of staying for a month or two in order to bridge a gap in the staff. God showed me a few things in the first month about the plans he had for me. In my spare time I like to put one foot in front of the other for long periods of time. And I enjoy helping others do the same.

I was birthed in 1971 in Savannah, Georgia, grew up and did all my fancy book learnin’ right here in Charleston and then lost my heart to the girl of my dreams in 1999. We have been truly blessed with three amazing kids that will be returning to school from summer break in 8 days, 19 hours and 31 minutes. But who’s counting! They will be missed.

My wife Kimberly was a professional ballerina and I an aspiring musician, song-writer and just all- around backstage brat. This work has had us on the move quite a bit over the better part of the past decade. I spent several years as the Production Manager of The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA rubbing elbows with Robin Williams or talking college ball with Bill Cosby, hanging out backstage between sets with Pearl Jam or Widespread Panic. I also, designed audio, lighting and sets, managed tours and crews for off-broadway productions, ballets, operas and pretty much any kind of show from Swan Lake to Kenny Rogers. So, if they are out there doing a show, chances are that I have worked with, played with, or hung out with them. And much to my friends and friends of my friends (autograph seekers) dismay I have never been “star struck” by any of these so called “famous” folk. I guess that just doesn’t do it for me!

I was born in 2009 when I met the most famous man who ever walked this earth. Now I am “STAR” struck, by the one who named them all! As I get older I realize that we are here on this earth but for a moment, and then the moment is gone. My prayer is that I'd be a blessing to someone along the way. Life wasn't meant to be so complex; it's just what each of us has made it. After years of what I assumed to be living, I now live to believe that loving God and loving people is what it's all about.

From childhood we are all taught to think with our brains but I think we would all do well to spend more time learning to think with our hearts. I guess that’s what does it for me!

Peace-

Butterflies are my favorite little creatures. They are very unique and they express how in Christ we can be a new creation. My life is like a butterfly’s. The old has passed away and the new has come. I am so thankful for who Christ is in my life and how I can depend on Him for all my needs.

As for St. Andrew’s, it is an honor to work where passion for the Lord comes first and values of trust and concern for one another are close behind. I love to play tennis, walk with my friends and surf at the beach when not at work.
