It's not easy to love others.
It's not convenient.
It sometimes feels like work.
So why do we love others?
Because we're told to.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. -Jesus (John 13:34)
Do You Believe Him?
Our Mission: Love Charleston
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." -John 14:12
The biggest obstacle we face in seeing our community transformed by the love of Jesus Christ is believing that our efforts will make no difference. But what would happen if believed the words in the Bible that describe God's people as instruments and ambassadors. What if we actually believed God's mission of love to the world is to be carried out through us!
Jesus teaches us to pray: "Let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." Love Charleston is about seeing our community transformed one loving act at a time.
Who Can Participate?
We invite anyone who has a heart for their community to be part of Love Charleston. At St. Andrew's Church we see Love Charleston as an ongoing call to mission that is reflected throughout our church body.
Whether it be through our Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry or LifeGroups, Love Charleston is not just a slogan: it is our Mission.
Why Charleston?
A better question is "Why not?"
The early disciples were told, "...you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth." -Acts 1:8
Jerusalem was home for the disciples. It was where they did their everyday tasks, walked the streets, knew the people. Home is often the most difficult place for us to be missionaries. But it is the place that we are called to begin.
If you call the greater Charleston area home, then your home is the first place to live out your faith. With your family, co-workers, with your neighbors, with your fellow students, with the tourists on the street...that is where Love Charleston begins.
Do You Dare?
One of the ways in which we are encouraging people to love Charleston is through the Dare to Move Challenge. We invite you to join us.
