Celebrating Advent with Your Family

Advent is a time of preparation and waiting, extending over four Sundays before Christmas. This year Advent is November 27- December 24. The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and refers to the coming of Christ. Advent is a time to prepare for the celebration of Christmas. The Advent season also serves as a reminder of the waiting of a nation for the birth of the Messiah and our own waiting as we prepare for Jesus to come again.

Having Advent traditions like an Advent devotional can help your family not lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. Here are some other family traditions.

We hope our stories provide encouragement for your family to spend where it counts as Christmas approaches. Spend more time in God’s presence, spend more time together as a family and spend time reaching out to the lost and hurting in our community.
