Empowering Parents

The teenager years are marked by transition. For many students and their parents it seems that as one transition finally comes to a successful (sometimes unsuccessful) close there is another one right on it’s heals. Often the teenage years are stereotyped as trouble; teenagers are expected to simply survive these years in preparation for whatever their post high school life has to offer them.

We have a different view

We believe that God has created this time in the life of a young person with a special purpose and opportunity. The student ministry at St. Andrew’s wants to help you make the most out of every moment of this season.

We believe that parents make the best youth pastors. In fact we believe God thinks so too. That is why he placed your son or daughter specifically with you. Scripture says in Deuteronomy that… “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise” Deut 6:5-7 It is our heart to help you make the most of every situation, season, and circumstance as moment to show your student how amazing God is. In short we want to help you be the most effective parent you can be.

We believe that the best resource is through relationships so please do not ever hesitate to contact us with questions any way we can help. We are here to serve you. Throughout the year we have several opportunities to equip parents to better communicate God’s love to their teenagers as well as times of encouragement where the whole family can gather. We will communicate these in our email news letter so sign up today.

Stay Connected with Youth Ministry

We send out an email to parents approximately twice each month to keep you connected to St. Andrew's Youth Ministry. Make sure you sign up for "Parents of High School Students" and/or "Parents of Middle School Students" by entering your email address in the box below.

Confirmation

The Confirmation Class for 2010 is now closed please pray for this great group of students as they learn about Christ and his kingdom.

We encourage all our 8th grade students or older to participate in a spring confirmation class. Our goal in Confirmation is to connect students to a community, confirm them in the faith given to them at Baptism, and challenge them to translate that faith into the world around them. This threefold goal of connect, confirm, and challenge is accomplished through a series of classes beginning in February and running on consecutive Sunday afternoons until early May. Students participate in table groups lead by senior high students who are themselves connected in an Impact small group. Each year the class attends a weekend retreat in Walterboro for a fun time of connecting with God. The confirmation process is concluded by a moving two nights of the students themselves giving a testimony to what Jesus has done in their lives. For more information please contact David Libbon or attend one of two informational parents meetings on January 17 following the 9:00 service or January 24 following the 10:45 service downstairs the Chapel at St. Andrews.
